The family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated Indigenous People of Biafra leader, has dissociated themselves from the purported intentions to obstruct Monday’s inauguration of the new government in Abia State or anywhere else in the nation.
The family also said that the organisation is not a part of any plan to wreak havoc on May 29 throughout the nation.
This declaration comes in response to the information the family claimed to have learned, which claimed that certain irate individuals intended to wreak havoc in the East under the guise of the family and the IPOB movement.
In an interview with Vanguard, Prince Emmanuel Kanu said that anybody who associates the family or IPOB with any scheme to disrupt an inauguration anywhere in the nation is being malicious and trying to blackmail the family and the movement.
We are not a part of it, he said. Anyone behind such a scheme should rule us out. We don’t participate and oppose it. The true enemies of our people are those who engage in such behaviour.
The Kanu family spokesman emphasised that their main concern is how to obtain Kanu’s release rather than how to disrupt any inauguration, adding that both the family and IPOB believe in peace and would continue to advocate peace.
Therefore, Kanu urged the general people to ignore any rumour or social media report linking the family or IPOB to any immoral behaviour on May 29.
