Buhari apologises for negative impact of policies

Major General Muhammadu Buhari, the departing president, has expressed regret to Nigerians for the harm some of his economic policies caused them.

During his Sunday farewell address to the nation, Buhari said this.

The president acknowledged that some of his initiatives brought Nigerians “temporary pain and suffering”.

He emphasised that while “some of the decisions were difficult choices, the measures were taken for the overall good of the country.”

In order to revive the economy, Buhari insisted that “we took some painful decisions, the majority of which produced the required outcomes.

I sincerely regret to my fellow citizens for some of the measures’ temporary hardship, but they were implemented for the sake of the nation as a whole, he said.

On May 29, Buhari would cede control to Bola Tinubu, the president-elect.
