Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, urged the electorate of Osun on Thursday to be vigilant against vote fraud by the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress on Saturday.
Senator Ademola Adeleke, the PDP’s candidate for governor in the July 16 election, was canvassing votes for Mr. Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, in Osun.
Mr. Abubakar urged people to refrain from letting them steal their votes, as they did in 2018. I urge you to cast your ballots for the PDP and protect your votes because Osun is a PDP state.
Other party veterans who were on the campaign trail included Mr. Abubakar’s running mate Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP National Chairman Ayu Iyorcha, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum Aminu Tambuwal, former Vice President Nnamadi Sambo, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Mr. Ayu also urged the electorate to support the party on Saturday during his remarks. Darkness prevails in Osun, he declared. You should support Adeleke and the PDP on Saturday because we want light.
The governor of Sokoto State, Mr. Tambuwal, also urged the electorate to vote PDP in order to restore morality and sound governance.
On Saturday, he said, voters should choose the PDP in order to advance the state’s prosperity.
On behalf of himself and all registered voters, Mr. Sambo urged them to support PDP on Saturday.
Additionally urging voters to support the party was Akindele Adekunle, the state party’s acting caretaker chairman.
“Osun citizens have chosen to support Ademola Adeleke in the election. Support the PDP to ensure prosperity.
In his remarks, Mr. Adeleke praised the party members for turning out in large numbers for the election.
A vote for him and the PDP, according to him, is a vote for advancement.
In the event that he were elected, Mr. Adeleke promised to ensure prompt pension and salary payments as well as to grant local governments financial independence.
