In a new assault on the Anter community of the Mbalagh Council Ward in the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State, five people have been killed.
Residents of the village informed our correspondent that the incident took place on Tuesday night.
The names of the victims were Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume, and Terkimbir Orbakpa, according to the locals.
However, it was discovered that the bodies of the first three victims had been discovered and interred, and that at the time this report was being filed, a search was still being conducted to locate the remains of the other two.
Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (ret. ), the governor of Benue State’s special adviser on security matters, claimed to have only heard of the deaths of two people in the community on Tuesday at the hands of armed herders.
Hemba admitted he was unaware that three additional victims had been killed during a phone conversation with our correspondent.
