Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has announced his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, the founder of Baze University in Abuja, was announced as the LP vice-presidential candidate on Friday in Abuja.

The 46-year-old was a former senator from Kaduna North Senatorial district.

Baba-announcement Ahmed’s came just 24 hours after Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, announced his withdrawal as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
Okupe, who announced his withdrawal via his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe, stated that his party would announce the new running mate for the presidential candidate.

“I submitted my letter of withdrawal from the position of Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate to INEC this afternoon.” The national chairman of the party will soon announce a replacement. “I feel extremely fortunate to have been a part of the foundation of success for the LP,” Okupe tweeted.

According to reports, the Labour Party, like the ruling All Progressives Congress, named Okupe as its interim vice presidential candidate in order to beat the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
