Members of a religious vigilante group with a human head in Iwo, Osun State, on Wednesday detained a man by the name of Afolabi Jacob.
During a routine security patrol around the Yemoja area of the town early on Wednesday, Afolabi was detained by Taawun Security, Al-Jayshu Islam.
According to a statement attributed to Jamaatu Taawunil Muslimeen, Afolabi Jacob admitted that the human head discovered on him was intended to be sold to a friend of his.
Eight members of Afolabi’s group were also detained and delivered to the Osun State Police Command, Osogbo, according to information provided by Jamaatu Taawunil Muslimeen during a security search.
According to the vigilante group, the suspects admitted that this was not their first crime because they had previously participated in numerous human sacrifices.
The arrests have been verified by the Osun State Police Command.
The suspects have been transferred to the state Police Command, according to Yemisi Opalola, the Command spokesperson, who spoke with this reporter.
She said that after receiving a briefing, the Command’s Anti-kidnapping unit had started an investigation.
