The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the recent spate of insecurity and the audacity with which terrorists have ravaged the unchallenged All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

In a statement issued Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, the PDP claimed that the APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari is complicit in the majority of the attacks.

The party claimed that the simultaneous terrorist attacks on President Buhari’s advance convoy in Katsina State and the Correctional Facility in Kuje, Abuja highlight the collapse of the security command and control structure.

The PDP, which described the APC-led government as failed, ineffective, and uncoordinated, stated that the terrorist attack in Katsina, as well as the ferocious invasion and the release of hundreds of terrorists and criminals from the Kuje Correctional Facility, confirm that President Buhari has lost control of the nation’s security.

According to the party, the increased spate of terrorism across the country has heightened fears of APC complicity and demonstrates that Nigerians are no longer safe.

It also claimed that the unabated terrorist attacks are APC plots to derail the 2023 general elections.

“The failure of the APC administration to act on intelligence provided by the Directorate of State Services (DSS), which reportedly warned of an impending attack on the Kuje Correctional Facility on Tuesday July 5, 2022, gives credence to Nigerians’ fears of complicity at very high levels of the APC administration,” the statement read in part.

“Additionally, soldiers deployed to the Kuje Correctional Facility’s precinct and who had become familiar with the terrain were redeployed 24 hours before the terrorists attacked.”

“The PDP demands that the APC government reveal who ordered the reported redeployment of soldiers and who failed to act on DSS intelligence.”

“Nigerians will recall the public confession made by Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, in the aftermath of the bloody Abuja-Kaduna terrorist attack that the APC-led administration is aware of the whereabouts and plans of the terrorists ravaging our country but has deliberately refused to act.” Nigerians will also remember how APC leaders openly romanced and paid terrorists.”

It expressed concern that President Buhari appears helpless in the absence of decisive and concrete steps to halt the tide of terrorist attacks in the country.

The opposition party insisted that the APC government led by President Buhari had failed to fulfil the basic purpose of government, which is to protect citizens’ lives and property.

It urged President Buhari to call an emergency meeting of the Council of State to assess the country’s dangerous security situation.

The PDP also demanded that the National Assembly summon the Security Chiefs immediately for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the failure of our security system.
