The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has left on his annual leave and given his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the authority to carry out his duties in his absence.

Crusoe Osagie, the governor’s special adviser for media projects, said in a statement that the governor has written to the Edo State Assembly to inform the House of the development.

He stated: “The governor has left for his annual vacation and has appointed Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu as his replacement. The development has been properly communicated to the Edo State House of Assembly.

The administration’s adherence to the democratic ideals enshrined in the 1999 constitution would be further strengthened by this second transfer of authority from the governor to his deputy.
