In a delayed primary election, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State emerged as the APC senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South.

Umahi came in sixth place in the APC presidential primary held in Abuja on Wednesday, with Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, winning with 1,271 votes.

Austin Umahi, the governor’s younger brother, won the senatorial primary election in Ebonyi South two weeks ago. The APC, however, cancelled the earlier primary election after Umahi’s defeat and rescheduled it for Thursday night.
