The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), one of the opposition parties, will hold its presidential primary election today at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja for the 2023 general elections.
Dr. Agbo Major, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, announced this during a press conference at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Agbo stated that the defection of many top members of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was beneficial to the party, despite the fact that the PDP was determined to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023.
Agbo urged Nigerians of voting age to prepare their voter cards in order to exercise their civic rights and vote for whoever the party presented as its flagbearer.
According to the NNPP’s spokesperson, party leaders at all levels have been working together to develop workable plans to address Nigeria’s challenges and move the country forward.
“In continuation of various high level strategic meetings, the party’s Special National Convention (Presidential Primary) will be held on Wednesday 8th June, 2022 at the Velodrome, MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja,” he said.

Agbo stated that they expect a total of 774 delegates, with one delegate from each of the country’s 774 local government areas.
He insisted that the NNPP is working hard to present credible candidates who will meet Nigerians’ expectations, win the general elections in 2023, and reposition the country.
He warned Nigerians not to sell their votes for any reason, “as seen in some political parties’ primaries where delegates mortgaged their conscience and voted for the highest bidder, denying the electorate the choice of credible candidates.”
