Prof. Peter Umeadi, the former Chief Judge of Anambra State, won the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) presidential primary for the general elections in 2023.
Umeadi was elected on Wednesday, at a special convention held at the Katampe-Abuja national headquarters of the party. His candidacy was affirmed by a total of 150 delegates by a voice vote.
While thanking party members for travelling the length and breadth of the country to attend the convention, Oye expressed optimism that in 2023, Umeadi would be sworn in as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
On his part, Umeadi promised to make Nigeria a great country that every Nigerian would be proud of if he was elected.
Umeadi, a professor of law, joined APGA in 2019, after retiring as the Chief Judge of Anambra State on March 1, 2019.
When the ex-CJ joined APGA, he said that an Igbo man should be given the chance to be president of Nigeria.
Umeadi had said, “It is only when an Igbo man is allowed to be in-charge of Nigeria for eight years, that things will get better.” Igbos have the highest investment in Nigeria, and Nigerians must support them in their presidential bid in 2023, if things are to move well. “
