As the 2027 general elections draw closer, political activities are gradually gathering momentum across Nigeria. In the Saki West, Saki East, and ATISBO Federal Constituency of Oyo State, the contest is shaping up to be decisive, with constituents seeking a more impactful and responsive representation at the National Assembly.
The current House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Kareem Abisodun, is reportedly facing growing dissatisfaction among constituents, particularly within the Oke-Ogun political landscape.
This development has opened the field to no fewer than twelve aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), all vying to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the election.
Among the leading aspirants is Hon. Ismail Adewoyin, PhD, whose grassroots political involvement and longstanding commitment to community development have earned him considerable recognition across the constituency.
Widely regarded as a passionate advocate for the progress of Oke-Ogun and Oyo State, Adewoyin’s political journey spans decades of consistent engagement and service.
Dr. Adewoyin’s political career began in Lagos, particularly in Surulere, where he became actively involved in progressive politics on Ibidun Street. Between 1993 and 1997, he was a prominent figure in Ayilara Ward D, building networks and laying a solid foundation for his political future. In 1997, when his employer, Jide Taiwo & Co., transferred him to Ibadan, he maintained his Lagos residence for three years, strengthening his political relationships across both cities.
His enduring connections in Lagos have even prompted calls from supporters urging him to contest political office there under the APC.
Back home in Saki, Dr. Adewoyin has remained a dedicated party loyalist. He has consistently mobilized support and sponsored victories for the APC in his Jangbadi polling unit, Okere Ward 8, Saki West Local Government Area, during the 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023 general elections.
Beyond politics, Adewoyin’s community involvement is extensive. He played pioneering roles in the Magnificent Social Club, Surulere, and holds membership in Dapper Social Club and Flumeneze Football Club, Saki. During his academic years, he also served as Sports Secretary of the Students’ Union at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Saki Satellite Campus.
Dr. Adewoyin currently occupies several leadership positions, including National Secretary of Saki Parapo Association, Vice Chairman of Ibadan Chapter of National Association of Saki Elite, and National Secretary of Ansar-Ud-Deen High School Old Students Association, Saki.
He also serves as Organizing Secretary of the Okeogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF), further demonstrating his commitment to regional development.
For over five years, Adewoyin has been vocal on issues of justice, fairness, and equitable governance in Oyo State, earning him recognition as a social justice advocate.
His 2022 book, Striving for Liberation and Leadership: The Travails of a Convener, chronicles his experiences and vision for leadership.
Driven by a desire to deliver transformative governance, Dr. Adewoyin is positioning himself as a candidate anchored on compassionate leadership, integrity, accountability, and community-focused representation.
His agenda emphasizes justice, fairness, sustainable development, and people-oriented governance.
As the 2027 election approaches, political observers believe Dr. Adewoyin’s rich political background, grassroots appeal, and leadership experience could position him as a formidable contender.
However, whether his credentials will translate into electoral victory remains a question that only time — and the electorate — will answer.
