2025 Skate-A-Thorn: Governor Sanwo Olu Rewards Athletes, Commends Team Lagos Skaters Stellar Performance .

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has applauded the outstanding performance of the Team Lagos Skaters who represented the State at the 2025 Skate -a-thorn in Calabar for making Lagos proud.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroot Sports Development,Mr Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye at the reception held in honor of the triumphant skaters at the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) office located at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos to celebrate the youngsters, commended the courage, resilience, and discipline demonstrated by the exceptional Skaters.
Investigator news reports that Governor Sanwo Olu presented N50,000 to each athletes,recognizing their remarkable achievements and dedication to promoting Lagos on the national stage.
Addressing the Skaters,Hon Atewogboye noted the governor’s gesture which underscored his administration’s commitment to supporting and empowering talented Lagosians, particularly the youth.
While acknowledging the skaters’ hard work and contributions to the state’s reputation,Hon Atewogboye reinforced the government’s passion for nurturing and celebrating homegrown talent.
He said,”The Team Lagos Skaters’ impressive performance at the Skate-a-Thon was a testament to their skill, perseverance, and the effectiveness of Lagos State’s sports development programs.”
“You are truly our pride, and we hold you in the highest regard. We are committed to supporting you every step of the way to reach your full potential. Your commitment to their growth and excellence reflects the spirit of Lagos, and with your continued support, we will reach even greater heights in sports and education. Congratulations once again to Team Lagos Skaters and to all the families who make these achievements possible”he submitted .

Responding one of the athletes stated that the SSA’s commitment to grassroots sports development has been instrumental in promoting athletic growth and development in Lagos State sports hub as Mr. Governor has made a wise decision in selecting the right person for the grassroots sports job, ensuring a smooth fit and optimal performance.
It will be recalled that the Skaters recorded 3 medals in 45km marathon race,also Lagos’ success extended beyond the marathon race as the team stole the show in the Inline Fashion Display event, winning the coveted gold medal as their stunning display of ego fashion style impressed judges and spectators alike.
